Macro Me is built so your data stays yours. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no advertising or tracking of any kind.
Everything you log — food entries, weights, goals, streaks, badges — is stored on your iPhone. If you enable iCloud sync, it is stored in your own iCloud account, encrypted by Apple; we cannot read it. We operate no database of user data.
If you enable Health sync, weight data moves between Macro Me and Apple Health on your device only. Health data is never transmitted to us or anyone else, and is never used for marketing. You can revoke access anytime in Settings → Health.
When you use AI logging, the meal text or photo you submit is sent over an encrypted connection through our server to Anthropic (the AI provider) to estimate its nutrition, then returned to your device. We do not store these requests, and they are not used to train AI models. Photos are used only for the single estimate you requested. Don't include things in photos you wouldn't want processed.
Barcode numbers and food-name searches are sent to the Open Food Facts public database to find nutrition information. These requests contain no personal information.
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We never see your payment details, name, or email address.
None. No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting.
Because your data lives on your device, you exercise your rights directly: export everything as CSV from the Progress tab, and delete everything by deleting the app (and its iCloud data via iOS Settings → iCloud). For questions under GDPR, POPIA, or any other privacy law, contact us — though in almost all cases, we hold no data about you to act on.
